Activities
Sunday Worship
We meet for worship every Sunday morning at 10.45 am. There is a service at both sites most Sundays but, at least once a month, we celebrate together as a single church family in one building or the other. Services are usually led by the minister or a local preacher. Sometimes our worship follows a fairly traditional pattern whilst, on other occasions, it is more contemporary but there's always something for everyone.
Sunday Club and Sunday School
We have activities for children and young people every Sunday morning. At Marehay, Sunday Club meets at 9 am whist, at Waingroves, Sunday School runs in another part of the building at the same time as the Sunday service. Amongst many other things, we have lots of stories and do craft work, drama and music. We also take time to discuss how the teaching of the Bible should be interpreted and applied in our lives. A greater emphasis is placed on this as the children grow older.
Bible Study
Fellowship
We meet every Wednesday evening at 7.00 pm to study the Bible together. This is a united activity with our friends from Codnor Methodist Church so, if you would like to join us, please check with us first to determine the correct location.
We also meet to study the Bible together at other times – usually during the special Christian festivals and celebrations.
Prayer
Prayer is a constant part of Christian life on both an individual and collective basis. We come together virtually (on Zoom and by telephone) every Saturday morning at 10.30 am to pray about our concerns for the local community and the wider world. (To join the virtual Prayer Meeting, all you need is a phone. You join from your home, your car, your garden or anywhere else. Please contact us via this website for details of how to join in).
In addition, our Prayer Chains can be used to mobilise our congregation between services and activities to pray for any person or situation as required. If you have a prayer request, please contact us.
Community Café & Village Coffee
Our Community Café is open at Waingroves every Friday morning and Village Coffee takes place at Marehay on the last Thursday of each month. Both run from 10 am to 12 noon and give everyone a chance to call in, have refreshments and share conversation. All are welcome whether you have two minutes or two hours to spare.
Stay and Play
Pre-school age children and their parents and carers meet in school term time every Wednesday morning at Marehay from 9.30 am to 11 am and every Wednesday afternoon at Waingroves from 1.30 pm to 3 pm. We have books, puzzles, crafts, 'ride on' toys and much more.
Table Tennis - Facebook
We have a very active Table Tennis Club which is affiliated to ETTA, provides qualified coaching to all ages and abilities and fields teams in the Derby & District Leagues.
